New cake

I made a simple sponge cake for a friends retirement. Just simply iced including the board. Fishing themed plaque on the top and finished off with fishing themed ribbon around the cake and plain ribbon around the edge of the board to hide the silver edge. Nice and simple really. I can’t take the praise for cooking the cake, it’s my mam who does the cooking!

I’ll also include a picture of ellie looking all cute this morning!

Lovely week

Hubs and I have spent a lovely week in Wells, Somerset in a beautiful barn conversion loft called Little burcott loft. The owners have very thoughtfully renovated the barn - it had everything we needed except a potato masher! There was a lovely welcome pack with somerset cider, bottled water which is from a well on site, cheese, milk, bread, biscuits and fresh flowers along with tea and coffee. Its those small touches which make all the difference.

We visited Longleat Safari Park, the Clark’s Shopping Village, Torquay, Exmouth, Stourhead National Trust property, and Bath. We also hd a trip to a little seaside village called Budleigh Salterton and had afternoon tea in a lovely quaint teashop (the cosy teashop), which started a new collection for me. Our cream teas were served on matching Royal Albert Old Country Rose china teacups with the teapot, milk jug, sugar bowl and side plates. A swift visit on ebay and we had purchased a 22 piece set and a two tier cake stand. Its even more exciting bidding on items on ebay via your mobile especially when your in an area of poor 3G coverage! I collected the cake stand today as it was from a local seller and I’m really pleased with it, just need to wait for my new teaset and I can have a good old fashioned tea party! Its funny how a little visit to a teashop can turn out.

During our time away I also managed to make quite a few cards – some of which are below along with a pic of my new cake stand.  If you would like any details on the cards below please send me a comment and I will get back to you.

So pleased its a bank holiday weekend and I have a short week at work next week. Roll on our next holiday!
